Rental Requirements
To keep our fleet secure and ensure a smooth rental experience, we require specific documents from every renter. Review the requirements below for your situation so there are no surprises at pickup.
Quick Checklist
Every renter must present the following documents at pickup, regardless of where you are from.
Valid Credit Card
A valid credit card in the renter's name. This is required for the security deposit and rental charges.
Government-Issued ID
A valid government-issued photo identification document such as a driver's licence. Must be valid for the entire rental period.
Valid Passport
A valid passport is required as a secondary form of identification for all renters.
Requirements by Renter Type
BC Residents
BC residents must present the following documents at pickup. Your ICBC Autoplan coverage typically extends to rental vehicles.
- Valid credit card in the renter's name
- Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g. BC driver's licence, Class 5 or higher)
- Valid passport
Canadian Residents (Outside BC)
Canadian residents from outside British Columbia must present the same core documents. If you plan to rely on your own auto insurance coverage, bring proof of insurance as well.
- Valid credit card in the renter's name
- Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g. provincial driver's licence)
- Valid passport
- Proof of auto insurance (if using personal coverage)
Foreign Guests
International visitors must present the same core documents. Please ensure all documentation is prepared before you travel.
- Valid credit card in the renter's name
- Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g. driver's licence from your home country)
- Valid passport
International Driving Permit (IDP)
If your driver's licence is not in English or French, an International Driving Permit (IDP) may be requested as a certified translation. IDPs must be obtained in your home country before travelling to Canada.
Deposits & Discretion
RevyCar may require a security deposit depending on risk factors and booking details. Deposit amounts are determined at our discretion and may vary based on the vehicle, rental duration, driver profile, and insurance coverage selected. Deposits are fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned in the condition it was received.
If a deposit is required, you will be notified before or at pickup. The deposit is held on the credit card provided and released after the vehicle is inspected upon return.
