RevyCar Rentals ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services.

- Driver's license information
- Payment information (processed securely through our payment provider)
- Booking details (dates, locations, vehicle preferences)
- Communications with our team
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain information:
- IP address and browser type
- Pages visited and time spent on site
- Referring website
- Device information
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Process and manage your vehicle rentals
- Communicate with you about your booking
- Send booking confirmations and updates
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
- Improve our website and services
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:
- Service providers who assist with our business operations (payment processing, email delivery)
- Insurance providers when required for coverage verification
- Law enforcement or government agencies when required by law
- The technology providers that run parts of the rental itself — Smartcar, Stripe and ElevenLabs. Section 4 says what each of them sees.
4. Vehicle, Call and Identity Data
Renting a car involves a few kinds of information a website form never collects. They are set out here so none of them is a surprise.
Connected-vehicle data
Our vehicles are connected through Smartcar. While a vehicle is connected we can see its location, its odometer reading and whether it is locked, and that information may be collected at any time the connection is live — not only while a rental is running. We use it to measure distance, to support keyless access, and to find or recover a vehicle and look into incidents. Only the staff and providers who need it for those purposes can reach it.
Dash-cams
Two vehicles carry an outward-facing dash-cam: the Toyota 4Runner and the Kia Carnival. They record the road ahead, not the cabin — cabin audio is disabled. Ordinary footage is deleted within 48 hours, and kept longer only where it relates to an incident, a claim or a legal requirement. No other vehicle in our fleet has a camera.
Phone calls
Our phone line is answered by an AI receptionist. Calls are recorded and transcribed, and the greeting tells you so before you speak. Recordings and transcripts are kept for 90 days. If you would rather not be recorded, ask for a callback and a member of staff will call you back off the recorded line.
Licence and identity checks
If you collect a vehicle through our self-serve flow, Stripe Identity checks your driver's licence and a selfie, so the person picking up the car is the person who booked it. Those images are submitted for deletion within 30 days after the rental completes, or after an unsuccessful booking is abandoned.
Where this information is processed
Smartcar, Stripe and ElevenLabs are the providers behind the three services above, and they may process this information outside Canada, where the laws of the processing country apply. We do not use information that identifies you to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
5. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Some periods are fixed:
- Call recordings and transcripts: 90 days
- Vehicle location history: 90 days
- Ordinary dash-cam footage: deleted within 48 hours
- Licence and selfie images from an identity check: submitted for deletion within 30 days after the rental completes, or after an unsuccessful booking is abandoned
- Material relating to an incident, claim or damage assessment: up to six months, and longer only while a claim or a legal requirement is still open
- Personal information we used to make a decision that directly affects you: at least one year after that use, so you have time to ask for it and challenge the decision
7. Your Rights
Under applicable privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Opt out of marketing communications
To exercise these rights, write to legal@revycar.ca, or to PO Box 219, Revelstoke, BC V0E 2S0. Both are monitored.
