Accidents & Incidents
Nobody plans for an accident. If something happens while you're driving one of our vehicles, follow these steps. Your safety comes first — everything else can be sorted out after.
What to Do — Step by Step
Ensure Safety
Check yourself and your passengers for injuries. If anyone is hurt or there is a hazard, call 911 immediately. Move to a safe location if possible without leaving the scene.
Contact the Police
In BC, you must report any collision involving injury, a hit-and-run, or damage over $10,000 to police. Even for minor incidents, a police report is helpful for insurance claims. Call the local RCMP non-emergency line or 911 if needed.
Document Everything
Take photos of all vehicles involved, damage, license plates, the surrounding area, and any road conditions or signage. Exchange names, phone numbers, and insurance information with the other driver(s). Note the time, date, and location.
Call RevyCar
Contact us at +1 250-814-6000 as soon as it is safe to do so. We will guide you through next steps, arrange a replacement vehicle if needed, and help with the insurance process.
Complete an Incident Report
We will provide you with an incident report form. Fill it out as completely as possible while the details are fresh. Include all photos and the police file number if one was issued.
Insurance & Financial Responsibility
Your financial exposure depends on your coverage.
Standard Coverage
All rentals include $10M third-party liability. Your collision deductible is $2,500 and comprehensive deductible is $300. You are responsible for these amounts.
With Enhanced Insurance
If you purchased Enhanced Insurance ($15/day), your collision deductible drops to $300 and comprehensive to $0. Subject to policy terms.
Personal auto insurance (e.g., ICBC Autoplan) or credit card coverage may also apply. See our Insurance page for details by renter type.
Non-Collision Incidents
Windshield or Glass Damage
Rock chips and cracks are common on BC mountain highways. Report them to us — comprehensive coverage applies ($300 deductible standard, $0 with Enhanced Insurance).
Animal Strikes
If you hit wildlife, pull over safely and contact us. Do not approach the animal. This is typically covered under comprehensive insurance.
Theft or Vandalism
File a police report immediately and contact us. Comprehensive coverage applies. Keep the police file number for your records.
Parking Lot Damage
Document the damage with photos. If another vehicle was involved, leave your information and try to locate the other driver. Report to us within 24 hours.
